Driver Training

James Wood coaches people of all levels of experience and ability, whether to improve racing technique, increase enjoyment of trackdays or make road driving safer.

Motor Racing

Driver development is hugely important in motorsport. Teams and engineers work full-time on the design, build and development of the cars; drivers should equally seek to improve.

Tennis players, golf players and athletes train with coaches regularly whether they are professional or amateur; far fewer people who race do the same.

James Wood started coaching by demand; some experienced competitors who respected his driving wanted to improve their own and asked for advice. Others quickly followed.

Benefits:

  • optimise a driver's ability so improve performance and results
  • help a driver adapt to a particular car or type of car
  • reduce wear on cars
  • increase enjoyment

Driver development is proven to be the most cost-effective method of improving performance; for many people it saves by reducing their lap time without the cost of car development. It should increase a driver's enjoyment too.

Clients range from experienced professionals to novice racers as well as those merely wishing to experience performance driving or make their road driving safer.

Format is usually one-to-one although group sessions can be arranged.

Rates vary depending on the intensity and duration i.e. whether a single session or a part of a programme.

Events- Trackdays

James Wood is involved many events, worldwide, including public, corporate and private events. James performs a variety of roles, from consultant to driver to host.

Trackdays provide an excellent opportunity for people to experience circuit-driving as well as build up experience if starting to race. It makes road driving safer too. James has many clients, male and female, who ask him to coach on trackdays, whether in their own car or one provided.
